We are psychologists and psychologists love a good psychometric test. That’s because good psychometrics can be useful in helping people to understand themselves better and so move forward with their career decision. But we also understand the limitations of such tests, and we’ll coach you to use and interpret the results in the right way.
The Career Psychologist uses only the most reputable and scientifically valid assessments that are nothing like the ones that you can get elsewhere on the net (which frankly, can be more like horoscopes). For our Career services, we use the following tests (although other tests are available on request):
• Career Storm Navigator™ is an internationally respected web-based career development tool which draws on contemporary best practice in positive psychology, career counselling and career psychology (cost £150).
• NEO Personality Inventories is a valid, reliable and in-depth personality assessments (cost £85)
• FIRO-B provides in-depth analysis of how people interact with others and within teams (cost £65)
• Aptitude tests – we have a number of objective assessment tests for verbal, numerical and spatial reasoning (cost £85)
How does it work?
Tests are generally completed at home, and a report will be sent to you automatically. We recommend adding a feedback session to go through your results and to think about what actions you can take to build on your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses. In short, the test will give you valid, reliable information about your personality or ability, but we can help you to interpret and make use of the findings.
Feedback sessions cost £85.
The Philosophy
We don’t believe in simply matching people to occupations, or that there is one single career development path that suits an individual best. Indeed, people often have the resources to pursue many alternative (and even simultaneous) career paths.
Similarly, the perfect career opportunity is not necessarily being advertised in the Saturday Guardian, but individuals can use their unique resources and experiences to create new and better opportunities.
