Mindfulness at Work

Do you recognise the person on the right?  Is that person ever you?

Do you ever feel distracted,  always on the go, working harder than ever but never achieving as much as you’d like?

There is growing scientific evidence to support the use of mindfulness at work to counter some of these problems.  Recent studies show that mindfulness can help to reduce stress, anxiety and distraction and improve productivity, task focus, creativity, learning and wellbeing.

This workshop helps people understand what mindfulness is, why it’s relevant to today’s workplace and how it is possible to fit mindfulness into a hectic working day.

Description:
Mindfulness can easily be misunderstood as something to do to relax or something to do with Buddhism. In fact, it can be these things but it doesn’t have to be. Mindfulness is a state of increased focus, heightened awareness and openness to experience. Recent evidence is showing that becoming more mindful is one of the most effective ways of boosting performance and resilience at work and in particular, of coping with the relentless pace of the modern workplace.

In this workshop we explain the evidence behind mindfulness, how and when it can be used in the workplace and the science behind its effectiveness. Participants will also learn practical techniques for incorporating mindfulness into their daily lives.

In particular, this workshop will focus on using mindfulness in order to:
• Acknowledge but not get so caught up in emotional reactions;
• Strengthen concentration;
• Address burnout symptoms;
• Notice when behaviour is simply reactive and when it is focused on objectives.

At the end of the workshop, participants are provided with practical tips and resources for maintaining mindfulness. Self assessed measures of mindfulness, wellbeing, psychological distress, fatigue and other signs of burnout are also available before and after the workshop.
